Lesson 23 - 'From the Supermarket' and 'Oh, Oh, I'm in Pain'

From the supermarket we drive home in our car and drive into the garage. Then we open the trunk and bring all the purchased groceries to the kitchen. We put the meat, sausage, milk, eggs and cheese in the fridge and the vegetables in the vegetable box. The flour, the sugar, the rice, the noodles go in the pantry. The preserved fruits and fish are also kept there, as well as herbs and spices, salt and pepper. After we have done all this we enjoy a cup of coffee or tea. The tea is the black tea from overseas, but it can also be an herbal tea. Peppermint and chamomile tea are popular. Many people sweeten the tea with sugar or honey. Honey is produced by bees and is very healthy.

Oh oh, I'm in pain. I need to speak to a doctor. I need an appointment at the clinic for that. I have to call. The reception tells me on which day and at what time the doctor is free. When I see the doctor, he greets me with the question; how can I help you? I can then explain to him where I have pain. This can be in the head, chest, abdomen, shoulder, arm, leg or back. The doctor will then examine the part of the body that is hurting and if he is sure he will prescribe a medicine and give advice on how to reduce or relieve or prevent the pain. If he's not sure what's causing the pain, he'll send me to a specialist or an X-ray department who will then tell him exactly what's causing my pain. When the pain is unbearable, he sends me to the hospital in an ambulance where the specialist then decides how to treat me or whether an operation is necessary.
