Lesson 41:  The Bedroom /  Das Schlafzimmer

5/11/2022

Lesson 41 - The Bedroom

The bedroom is an important room in the house because we sleep in it for a third of our life.

The basic furniture in the bedroom is the bed.

It consists of a frame, a bed head and a mattress.

To make it comfortable and keep us warm we use sheets, linen, blankets, pillows and quilts.

Usually on both sides of the bed head is a bed table in its various forms.

Most bed tables have one or more drawers.

In addition to the bed tables there might be a tallboy with several drawers.

Some people have placed a TV on it to enjoy viewing in bed.

Some people have a dressing table with a big mirror to groom themselves in the morning, especially if they have no ensuite.

There is usually a wardrobe to keep your clothes stored.

A wardrobe may be free standing or in built and one door may have a mirror as well.

Most bedrooms have a big window, framed by a good set of curtains that keep the room dark for a good sleep, but flood the room with sunlight when the curtains are pulled back.

Most people dress their bed with a bed spread and a number of cushions.

Most people make their bed every morning, but some people don`t believe in that practice.

Some people decorate their bedroom walls with pictures of a personal or classic kind.

Lesson 41 – Das Schlafzimmer
