New timeslot for Meditation in 2022

3/12/2021

Meditation resumed following the recent lockdown with fewer numbers than previously.    After discussing this with Caroline, we have decided to run the Meditation group following Exercises for Fun on the first and third Monday of the month.   This will overcome the problem of attendees having to collect grandchildren from school or taking them to out of school activities, giving more U3A members the opportunity to be part of this group.

Members who attend have found Meditation to be a wonderful way to relax and learn to how to find a more peaceable way of living with others and ourselves.

We thank Caroline for making Meditation sessions available for our health and wellbeing.

Isolation - an opportunity to slow down, reflect and meditate

2/4/2020

By having to isolate ourselves, at last we will have an opportunity to slow down and take each moment as it happens.    It is an ideal time to reflect on the ‘now’ and reflect on ourselves.

This is where meditation can help us all.   Meditation is a process of ‘letting go’ our ‘attachment’ to our thoughts and feelings.   We become mindful, that is, we become aware of our thoughts and become involved with our thinking.   In meditation, we let go of our thinking and the thought falls away, though another thought may rise and if we don’t ‘attach’ to it, it will fall away.

If you find that life is getting a bit anxious, you are worrying about the current world wide situation, sit for a while and use the tools that we have been given and meditate and be calm.
We have the opportunity to stop and smell the roses - now is the time to do so.

Meditation is a wonderful tool to relieve the stress that is part of living in this fast moving world.  Spending time to understand oneself, to learn to live in the moment and remove the emotional baggage we carry with us is very important for our physical and mental health.

Take time for yourself and come to this very special activity which is held on the 1st and 3rd Monday of each month commencing at 4.00pm.
