On a frosty, sunny morning in early June, six walkers followed the Bullawah Cultural Trail along the Ovens River, Wangaratta.
In the Pangerang language Bullawah (bulla meaning two and wah meaning water) signifies the two suspension bridges crossing the river and the joining of two rivers and the coming together of Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people.
Interpretive signage tells of ancient Aboriginal stories, spirituality, culture, sculptures and food including the Bush Tucker Garden; a fascinating journey.
Following lunch we checked the nearby start of the Murray to Mountains Rail Trail, Wangaratta to Bright, another interesting part of our history
