Caroline and Heather
Meditation was not held this month due to the Easter and Anzac break, however we will resume classes on Monday 2nd May at 12.00 noon.
Caroline and Heather
Whilst Caroline is away, Heather Wallace has been guiding the Meditation group.
We have broken the hourly session into a couple of areas.
Firstly, using Mindfulness to fully experience the present moment while noticing (without judgement) our thoughts and feelings.
We then have a short exercise session to stretch our muscles followed by a session of Meditation which allows the body and mind to relax. We take our mind to the mountains, or to the sea or into a forest, followed by a relaxation session with a full body scan.
At the end of the session all who attend leave feeling relaxed and more aware of their presence and wellbeing.
Meditation will not be held on Easter Monday, 18th April 2022.
It is so good to be able to put an hour aside to let the body and mind relax - meditating to bring us into the moment.
This semester Meditation groups will have another leader, Heather Wallace, for a number of sessions when Caroline is not available.
If anyone wishes to come to the group, it is held the 1st and 3rd Monday of the month at 12.00 noon in U3A Room 2 at the Seniors building. You will be most welcome.
Wear comfortable clothing. You can take your shoes off and bring a cushion to make the chair more comfortable if you wish. You are sitting down all times, you do not lay on the floor, so there are no worries about getting up.

Meditation's new time slot for 2022 timetable - 1st & 3rd Monday 12:00 noon to 1:00 pm U3A Room 2 - with the first meetings on 7th & 21st February.
Meditation resumed following the recent lockdown with fewer numbers than previously. After discussing this with Caroline, we have decided to run the Meditation group following Exercises for Fun on the first and third Monday of the month. This will overcome the problem of attendees having to collect grandchildren from school or taking them to out of school activities, giving more U3A members the opportunity to be part of this group.
Members who attend have found Meditation to be a wonderful way to relax and learn to how to find a more peaceable way of living with others and ourselves.
We thank Caroline for making Meditation sessions available for our health and wellbeing.
The benefits of meditation can be experienced when becoming aware of your ‘inner self’, whilst ignoring the world around you. This happens the first and third Monday of each month at 4.00pm in the U3A rooms. Come and join us and experience the benefits of meditation.
The benefits of Meditation in the current world climate has been comfort to the various populations around the world. Our class helps you to relax the body and the mind and can become an important tool to enhance our day to day living and understanding of emotional concerns.
We just take an hour of your time on the first and third Mondays each month to show you ways to relax, breathe correctly and practice meditation.
As I will be away in late February, we will recommence on Monday 1st March at 4 pm in the U3A meeting room.
Looking forward to meeting some new faces and renewing old friendships.
By having to isolate ourselves, at last we will have an opportunity to slow down and take each moment as it happens. It is an ideal time to reflect on the ‘now’ and reflect on ourselves.
This is where meditation can help us all. Meditation is a process of ‘letting go’ our ‘attachment’ to our thoughts and feelings. We become mindful, that is, we become aware of our thoughts and become involved with our thinking. In meditation, we let go of our thinking and the thought falls away, though another thought may rise and if we don’t ‘attach’ to it, it will fall away.
If you find that life is getting a bit anxious, you are worrying about the current world wide situation, sit for a while and use the tools that we have been given and meditate and be calm.
We have the opportunity to stop and smell the roses - now is the time to do so.
Meditation is a wonderful tool to relieve the stress that is part of living in this fast moving world. Spending time to understand oneself, to learn to live in the moment and remove the emotional baggage we carry with us is very important for our physical and mental health.
Take time for yourself and come to this very special activity which is held on the 1st and 3rd Monday of each month commencing at 4.00pm.
We just take an hour of your time to show you ways to relax, breathe correctly and practice meditation.
