Terry's President's message this month is of particular relevance to convenors. 

"I am pleased to report that all our courses that use W4 are now running as normal. The Centre Office is closed, but the Flexible Learning team will have W4 unlocked for morning classes and we are asking morning groups not to lock the room if there is an afternoon class.  The roll and keys for the cupboard are now located in the top drawer of the vertical file, and need to be returned to the drawer on completion of your class.  The whiteboard in W4 lists these changes as a reminder to tutors.

If an afternoon class finds the room locked the tutor needs to interrupt the Flexible Learning team and request Michelle who has a master key to open the room.  We do not want to interrupt their classes so please do not lock W4 until the last class finishes!"

On Friday 26th June Terry was informed that the Centre was ceasing to operate at the Dunlop campus at the end of the working day   Terry and Geraldine had little more than an hour to decide how classes would operate in the coming weeks.    With some fast footwork from Geraldine and Terry classes have been able to proceed as scheduled during the school holidays with only one cancelled class, Astronomy on the 7th July. 

Members have been sent a letter regarding the changes and, of particular interest to convenors, arrangements for the keys for the cupboard and the rolls.  Convenors can contact Lorraine Knox if any problems arise.

While Michelle Ramage and her staff from the Flexible Learning Centre have offered to support U3A with opening the building during normal term time, the executive will clearly be busy ensuring smooth transition to a non-Centre based environment.

Terry writes "We are now starting a new era operating without the assistance of the Centre  I am hopeful that we will continue to successfully offer an interesting program in all the venues we now use".
