A Convenors' meeting for Tutors and Convenors was held on Friday May 15th, using part of the 3rd Friday timeslot in which W4 is available to convenors for photocopying/computer use or general course preparation.
Terry reviewed the handout for convenors and stressed the importance of maintaining an updated and current attendance record, especially if our class does not use W4. This information would be needed if there was to be an insurance claim.
Bev Lee introduced the proposed new website (ie. this one), demonstrating some of its key features, including individual group pages; this convenors' page and the website information page for convenors.. The website address has been sent for feedback to members on the email list - the aim is to launch it at an upcoming Meet and Mingle session.
Terry then introduced the Elmo projector, spending time with interested convenors at the end of the session demonstrating it in more detail. A video from the manufacturers is included at the end of this post.
It seems that while Terry uses the Elmo projector, he also projects scanned images from his USB onto the large screen and inserts them into his group's web page.
Coffee break - accompanied by a warm apple cake brought in by Terry, provided an opportunity for convenors to mingle and for Terry to chat to individual convenors.
During the session, Terry made two requests for feedback. Firstly, could you let him know if you use the computer projector in your class? The committee evisages replacing this when it expires as we can now hook computers to the TV or use USBs to present material. Secondly, could you let him know if you have content which he could incorporate in his President's report in the Newsletter (and web site) each month.
