September - 'Seven Creeks and Balmattum Hill'

28/9/2019

On Wednesday September 11, I led a happy group of nine Benalla Bushwalkers along Euroa’s Seven Creeks Walk and up Balmattum Hill. The track was steep but well formed.  After several breathers to take photos of the view, we finally made it to the top, where we had lunch.

Those of us who still had the energy hopped over the fence
and trudged up the paddock to the first group of rocks. From here, we had a bird's eye view across Euroa township and surrounding farmland, all the way to the distant hills.

Retracing our steps and crossing the little bridge over Seven Creeks, we followed the track back to the cars and nearby picnic tables.
Afternoon tea here was very welcome.
Perfect Spring weather and a great group of (mostly) well-behaved walkers equated to an enjoyable day out.

Good for you Rupert, who skipped all the way up and down...??

August - Mt Meg; coming up on September 11 - Seven Creeks

Mt Meg:  14 August – Helen Spinks  On the BBC mid-week 8km. Mt. Meg walk, 9 walkers, including 3 out-of-towners, participated.  We followed kangaroo tracks, up through timbered slopes and rocky hillsides, to the summit.  This walk tested our fitness, but the view from our lunchtime vantage point, overlooking Thoona township, was well worth the effort.  Luckily by then the sun had managed to peep through the clouds and we were able to spread out, relax, chat and chew.  Instead of retracing our steps, Helen led us downhill to the Deer Proof Fence, which we then followed back to the cars.  We had encountered curious deer, flocks of sheep and kangaroos and discovered small pockets of orchids during the walk.  Afternoon tea at Thoona park was welcomed (but we would have also welcomed Public Toilets!)  Thanks to Helen Spinks, our able leader.
