Today’s Club Mid-Week Walk took place in one of Beechworth’s Goldmining areas. Six keen walkers – including new walker Stan (welcome Stan!) – took off from the Powder Magazine, past Spring Creek bridge and the pretty Cascades, to the start of the Reid's Creek Walking Track. This track overlooked Spring Creek’s historic gold mining sites, as evidenced by areas of deep sluicing, which had created high cliffs above the Creek. After tackling some of the track’s steep steps, we all welcomed lunch break at Woolshed Falls picnic area. Return walk was via the same route. Thanks John Boehm for a well-planned walk – plus the well-planned perfect weather.
This easy 8 km track in the Mt Samaria State Park links Back Creek and Wild Dog Creek falls. We will need to do a car shuffle to enable us to get home.
