On a lovely crisp! sunny Friday in June we ventured forth to the Ovens valley, specifically to the Eagle Range Estate Winery. Situated on the side of a hill, we had a lovely view over the valley while we enjoyed our tasting.
Our very personable host, Frank, explained how he makes his wines without any additives. He has different varieties that he grows, two of which are the lesser known Saperavi and Montepulciano, along with Merlot, Cab Sav and Shiraz, the latter two being vegan friendly. His Riesling was quite unusual and very enjoyable.
Our next winery visit on Friday 19th July is to Delatite Winery, 390 Pollards Rd, Mansfield with lunch to follow at the Delatite Hotel.
