The first session for 2015 commenced with John presenting Symphony No 5 En Saga Belshazzar’s Feast by Finnish composer, Sibelius (1865-1957), played by the Slovak Philharmonic Orchestra.
For the second part of the session John introduced us to an American composer who is not well known, William Henry Fry (1813-1864), although he is accredited as being the first native born American to write for large symphonic forces. His music presented was the Niagara Symphony and the Santa Claus Symphony, played by the Royal Scottish National Orchestra.
