Joan presented the session. We commenced with Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto played by the Russian Philharmonic Orchestra; followed by a short DVD of the Australian Youth Orchestra’s Tour of Europe. Joshua Bell accompanied them and played the Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto.
In the second half of the session, we listened to Camille Saint Saen’s Symphony No. 3 for Organ played by the National Orchestra of France. We also listened to his composition, La Bacchanale from Samson and Delilah.
We concluded with a portion of Saint Saen’s Carnival of the Animals finishing with the Swan.

Doug presented the session. In the first half he presented a number of Youth Orchestras of the World some of which were: Venezuelan Youth Orchestra, Contemporary Youth Orchestra Cleveland State University and the Australian Youth Orchestra.

This was followed by music and arrangements by George Percy Grainger (1882 to 1961) and literature regarding the interesting aspects of his life.
