We had a lovely collection of swap cards, which was a great play-time activity, school reports, text books, exercise books, and more. A prize winning painting of a clown, a smocked babies dress, and exercise books with sewing samples all proved of interest. Several school photos were also on display.
The text books included Dacomb shorthand, Fitting and Turning, a handbook of Home Management, and a very old dictionary. Also included was a Certificate of Registration of a Hairdresser and various other items which provoked much discussion. First and Second readers provided must interest and the story of the Hobyahs we agreed was rather horrifying for six and seven year olds.
Our November meeting involves a change of time and venue. We will meet on Monday 12th November at 2.00 pm at the RSL rooms in Nunn Street where we will view the RSL collection.
