Our theme of ‘Flowers’ produced a wide variety of beautiful items. One item of particular interest was a painting on the back of a mine detector. It was of great sentimental value to the family, not so much for the painting itself, but the fact that their mother had been a supervisor in a factory which manufactured mine detectors during the Second World War. A very responsible and stressful job.
We also had beautiful items of clothing purchased in Kashmir, beautifully worked tapestries, hand embroidered doilies and handkerchiefs. Janet brought along a delicate silk embroidery of Geraldton Wax which she had had framed as well as other items. Plates, ornaments, glass flowers, trinket boxes and a lovely vase were also on display and created much interest and discussion.

The theme for our August meeting started as Silver but grew to include Copper and Brass and all things metal. Once again this should provide an interesting display and discussion.
