The play we have chosen for March, 'The Lady in the Van', will be screening towards the end of the month at BPACC and undoubtedly will show at Swanpool in future. Reading the play will therefore have special interest! Here is a trailer for the movie to set the mood for the play reading and remind you of it later on...
A Synopsis: In 1974, Alan Bennet encountered Miss Mary Shepherd, an elderly eccentric living in a van in the street near his home in Camden Town. He eventually allowed her to park her van in his garden, the idea being that she would stay three months - but those three months extended to fifteen years. .....a wonderfully bittersweet comic diary of the years in which a lethally dotty and very smelly old woman parked her unroadworthy vehicle in Alan Bennett's garden, thereby providing him with a roughly equal amount of good journalistic copy and guilty landlordly irritation.
