Saturday cards are held on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month, 1.30pm to 3.30pm. Heather Wallace What a lot of fun and laughs we had on Saturday.
There were three groups of players and each group had a different outcome on our games. You don’t have to be an experienced player, some of us have learnt as we have played or have been a bit ‘rusty’ as we have not played for years. Everyone is most welcome. Heather Wallace Since the lockdown we have had two sessions of Cards on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month. All who attended were so looking forward to being able to play 500 again. It is such an intriguing game, and time flies so quickly when playing. With the highs and the lows during each hand there is lots of laughter and groaning when a player is either dealt a good or bad hand. The last session will be held on Saturday 13th December. Come along and join us. Heather Wallace

You are required to show proof of double vaccination of COVID 19 before you can enter, either by showing your paper version of ‘Certificate of Vaccination’ from the Australian Immunisation Register or by showing the COVID 19 digital Certificate on your mobile phone. Either one is acceptable. Heather Wallace Unfortunately, cards on Saturday has been put on hold during the lockdowns we are currently having. It has been months since we last met! It will be so good to get back to our enjoyable activity when things get back to some normality. It is hoped that we can meet again soon, however we are proposing to change our meeting days to the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of each month. I will contact those who have been missing out on cards as soon as we can meet again.
Heather Wallace Following cancellation of our activity due to Lockdown 5, we will be resuming when socially distancing requirements are further eased. We look forward to returning, playing cards and enjoying the company of other players.

Heather Wallace Interest in Saturday Cards is growing ,with two new players at the last session. It is such a fun way to keep the brain busy, trying to remember Trumps (not the one in USA), Bowers and Jokers. U3A members are most welcome to come and join in.
Heather Wallace Playing 500 is such a fun game. Apart from the playing of the game with the aim to be the first to achieve 500 points, laughter is part of the package on the day. The two-hour session goes so quickly and every one has a tale to tell on what they should have done to win the game. It is also good for ‘brain training’ trying to work out what cards each player has in their hands.
As there was no session on Easter Saturday, an extra session has been scheduled on Saturday 10th April from 1.30 - 3.30 pm. Look forward to seeing you then and at our next regular sessioon on Saturday 17th April at 1.30pm. Heather Wallace 0418 353 244 On-line ‘Game of the Month’ – ‘Word with Friends 2’ One way some U3A Benalla members are keeping in touch with friends while social distancing is by playing ‘Word with Friends 2’, a form of online Scrabble. Just type ‘Words with Friends 2’ into your Apps search engine and follow the instructions. Hint! Begin by playing people suggested by the app, then progress to playing with family and friends!

Cards '500'Cards '500' is a simple social game to play with groups of 4 players or more.
Playing cards is a fun way of enjoying other's company without physical exertion. Our U3A group of card players has many laughs and fun at our sessions with easy-to- understand rules. Most of our players can remember playing the game years ago with family and friends before the advent of television. Players who are 'rusty' or have not played before will be taught how to play by others present. We are a friendly and welcoming group where the focus is on having fun in a mildly competi-tive environment. There is no gambling or money involved. The game is flexible and can be configured to accommodate any number of participants. This allows for flexibility if you cannot come along on a regular basis. Convenor & Contact DetailsDoug Smith
