It is amazing how far this group has developed in 6 months. Many members commenced not ever having owned an ukulele, let alone knowing chords and tuning of the instrument. After being absent from class for a couple of weeks, it was so heartwarming seeing how far we have come. Singing and playing songs that we grew up with. Playing chords, strumming, and keeping time with the music.
Thank you to the group members who led the group during my absence, and to co-convenor Dorothy, who organised a couple of her friends to come along and lead the group as well.

This week and next week John Canty, who is the current President of Shepparton U3a, is leading our group and giving us some insight into where we go from here. Prior to the Benalla group being formed Bev and I spent a morning with John’s ‘Just Jammin’ ukulele group at Shepparton to get an idea of how to run a group. John was pleasantly surprised at where the Benalla group is at currently and has given us a few ideas as what to do next to expand our enjoyment of playing the ukulele.
