Photos to be added shortly! Thank you Rene Martens, for taking and publishing the video on YouTube, as well as a wonderful collection of photos!

"Went out to the Thoona Hall today with the U3A Benalla and District Ukulele Group to watch and listen to a group of 10 ladies (called themselves the Ukeladies) playing and singing songs as part of Thoona CWA fundraising for the Hay Bales to be trucked to where they are required. So, I took a few photos and this video - remember you can change the resolution to 4K for best viewing..." Rene Martens Ps - I've added this to 'Jamming Videos'... as members of the group were in the audience, imagining all the possibilities to come... Bev Lee When I popped in to Ukes4Fun to take some photos for the website on Monday 20th, mentor John Canty was guiding a 'walk up' by Trish Rogash,.accompanied by the group. It sounded wonderful. Some treasured 'just jamming' followed, with songs - the 'House of the Rising Sun' and 'Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow' - recorded on my ageing smartphone! You can click on the full screen arrows to get a better look.
Hope you enjoy them! Bev Lee Great news. The ‘Getting Started’ group is now being integrated with the ‘Just Jamming’ players. They have been welcomed into the fold, with members happy to offer assistance as required. 'Mull of Kintyre' ... the first song played together after the Getting Started group joined 'Just Jamming' on April 8! It can be quite daunting at times to extend your musical knowledge, but they have already demonstrated their ability to do so.
I must offer my congratulations to Elly for the excellent job she has done teaching the newbies. A lot of hours are put in by the instructional group preparing various handouts of tuition notes and song sheets to achieve the results. Well done. Remember – UKE CAN DO IT! Neville Young Benalla Theatre Company and U3A Benalla Ukes 4 Fun group found another venue for their Jamming session on Tuesday 21st November when rain and thunder interfered with the planned gathering at the Rotunda in the gardens. Rene Martens was able to get some video and reported that "Fun was had by all who attended. The groups hope to have a few more sessions in the future". Rene's 35 minute video can be viewed above or by clicking the link to his Youtube channel. Rene suggests "change the resolution to 4K and sit back and enjoy".
Thanks to Stephen Winkler from BTC for leading the session, and to Rene for the video! Thanks so much to Rene Martens for this wonderful video of our first public performance. It's around 18 minutes long, so sit back, relax and enjoy! It starts fairly quietly... also, Rene said you can change the resolution in Settings to 4K for best viewing if it defaults to very low resolution when you go to play it.
You'll need to increase the volume on your speakers to listen to the following - unedited - clip of 'Amazing Grace' recorded on a smartphone on 7 August... It starts slowly...so persevere.... . At the end of the session we heard the news that Heather's operation that morning went well, much to everyone's relief and indeed joy! Get well Heather!
Thank you so much to Dorothy's ukulele playing friend, Michael Dobson and his wife, for coming from Melbourne to lead a most enjoyable session while Heather was away. A video snippet follows - you may need to put in your hearing aids or put your speakers up to hear the music! Thank you, Michael!
Now that we have learnt to strum and have practised our Chord Progressions we are singing songs such as 'Tom Dooley', 'On Top of Old Smokey' and more. If you have 5 minutes watch this clip* of the group singing 'Tom Dooley' in early April. Just six sessions into the course! John Barry conducted a session on playing the same section of music in various keys and how to achieve this through Chord Progression. "Some of us have only been playing for a few weeks!" It is such a pleasure watching group members develop their ukulele skills. Heather Wallace *You will probably find the video needs buffering, is quite short and cuts off quickly... but it's fun. Usually once it's buffered through on a device it will play more quickly on that device next time.
