Dorothy Thank you Lorraine, for taking care of the Group while I was in Queensland. Good to be back and catch up with all the great work you have been doing. We will once again have a wonderful display in November. Date for your Diary - Christmas Lunch - December 15th. 3rd Thursday 'Show and Tell' - Marg and Judy Dorothy Webber
We have started on our block of the month project and it’s fun seeing them coming together. We were shown a beautiful hand pieced and quilted quilt - a great achievement. Dorothy
With the cold weather a small group of dedicated workers has been meeting and showing their talents. July will see a start of our new project - 'Floating Star' Mini Sampler Quilts - and we plan to have some of this work on display in November
Dorothy Webber My thanks to Lorraine for your support with the group over the past few months.
A lovely thank you was received from the Benalla & District Hospital Auxiliary, a number of the members of the Patchwork Group donated their time and sewing skills making items for the Auxiliary Stall. We continue with our patchwork and other crafts, plus lots of chat. Thursday 30th of June is our all-day session from 10am - 4 pm - see you for all or part of the time. Dorothy Webber Another happy day was spent patching, piecing, quilting and chatting at our ‘fifth Thursday’ all day workshop on Thursday 31st March. Our thoughts are with our Convenor, Dorothy, at this very sad time. Patchwork Group Members
All day workshop, March 31st, 2022 March... 'A quilt for a son's 60th birthday' Dorothy Webber Patchwork members presented an interesting quilt display at Meet and Mingle on November 17th. There were finished quilts, quilts being pieced together, and quilts awaiting quilting. The Patchwork group will meet twice in December, with a regular get together on December 2, and the Patchwork Christmas Lunch on the December 16th. Corrie Witlox Patchworkers are busily preparing for the Display of Patchwork and Quilts at ‘Meet and Mingle’ on Wednesday 17 November. If you’d like to view some of their work in progress over the year, take a leisurely scroll through the posts below!
Dorothy Webber The Patchwork group met twice in September, with 'show and tell' and the installation of the beautiful wall hanging featuring quilted fishes at our 'third Thursday' afternoon session. Our ‘fifth Thursday’ all day workshop provided the opportunity to share stories about the earthquake, community news, anxieties about almost constant exposure to scams, and more, all while meditatively piecing together patchwork pieces, embroidering, or knitting, at times with the hum of sewing machines in the background. 'Show and Tell' - September 2021
The Patchwork group managed to meet three times during July, despite the Covid lockdown. The group who attended the all day workshop are pictured above enjoying one another’s company while socially distanced, chatting while worked on projects including hand sown patchwork hexagons and embroidered panels for a patchworked quilt.
I know a lot of you have been missing our classes, so we are lucky to have three sessions in July, 1st & 15th afternoon 1 -4 pm and 29th all day 9:30am - 4pm.
Dorothy Webber We welcomed back Rosie after her stint in Hospital – it is great she is on the road to recovery. The work we see for SHOW in TELL is truly beautiful and many photos are on our page on the website. The next all day session will be Thursday July 29th, from 9:30am to 4pm. We have had a large number of books and magazines donated by Kay. Hopefully, you will have time next meeting to see if your next project jumps out at you. Dorothy 0412263071 Photos: Dorothy Webber
It has been a busy month for the Patchwork Group – two afternoon sessions followed by a ‘5th Thursday’ all day ‘special’. Here are some of the quilts brought along for ‘show and tell’ during the month. Patchwork is held on the 1st and 3rd Thursday each month commencing at 1pm till 4pm, with an all day session on the fifth Thursday. Thursday April 29th is our first all day session for the year. Held from 9:30 - 4pm, this is always a great chance to bring along your machine and really achieve or continue with your hand work. BYO lunch & morning or afternoon tea to share. There is always someone on hand to give a hand.
Dorothy Webber 0412 263 071 We are all looking forward to being together on Thursday 3rd March. I’m sure we have a lot of catching up to do. I’ve had a number of calls and emails and am looking forward to seeing you all with your show and tells.

Patchwork is scheduled to recommence in the U3A Meeting Room on Thursday 18 February from 1 to 4 pm provided the building/maintenance works have been completed. Dorothy Webber 0412 263 071 Thank you to patchworkers who submitted photos for the on-line exhibition of work completed during the Covid break. ‘The Covid Collection’ was launched online in the third week of November in lieu of the annual ‘Meet and Mingle’ exhibition of work at the Seniors Community Centre, and features the work of Maxine Costello, Elaine Cotton, Janet Gourley, Shirlie Gilmour, Helen Jeffree, Judy Merkel, Heather Sloan and Corrie Witlox.
It’s not too late to have work included in the exhibition! Quilts commenced during the Covid break (defined as when the group is unable to meet together physically because of Covid restrictions) can still be added to the online exhibition. Just send photographs to Dorothy.
