I am currently unable to convene the group due to a back/nerve injury, however Elly and Neville have taken over during my absence.

I called into see the group a couple of weeks ago and was so impressed with the way they were blending and singing together.   It brought tears to my eyes.    I am so proud to be part of a group of people who are getting so much enjoyment out of their chosen subject.

Thank you to both Elly and Neville for supporting the group during my absence.

Ukes4Fun

Ukes4Fun begins the year with an opportunity for beginners to have separate fortnighly sessions until Easter in the 'Getting Started' group which runs from 10 to 11 am on Monday mornings beginning on Monday 9 February.

The 'Just Jamming' sessions follow from 11.30 to 1.30 in U3A Room 1, with beginners joining after Easter. The session which focusses on 'Just Jamming' facilitated by convenor Heather Wallace is held on the 2nd and 4th weeks of the month, commencing on Monday 9 February.

Just Jamming Practice Sessions faciltated by Rae Jeffers are held on the 1st and 3rd weeks of the month, commencing on Monday 16 February.

Members of the Ukes4Fun Getting Started group are welcome to observe or join in the Just Jamming sessions.

Members of the Ukes4Fun Just Jamming group form a performance group, the 4String Strummers, and play regularly at nursing homes and community events.

'Getting Started' (Term 1)

You will learn how to hold, tune and play simple chords on your ukulele, with a variety of strumming patterns. You will get lots of support and will have fun learning together. You will need a ukulele of reasonable quality (ie. a concert ukulele), a music stand, and a tuner.

'Just Jamming'

A group for uke players who can use basic cords and strumming patterns and enjoy getting together for a weekly jamming session, playing and singing songs, and having fun.
