"It is not a game where we play for sheep stations..."

31/3/2022

Saturday Cards 500 is an opportunity for members to test their memories and skills.   It is not a game where we play for ‘sheep stations’, but a time to have a laugh whilst enjoying the company of others.

We welcome members who wish to be part of this group, whether you are a beginner wishing to learn, someone who has had lots of experience or someone who hasn’t played for years and want to sharpen your skills.

Saturday cards are held on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month, 1.30pm to 3.30pm.

Each group had a different outcome, some quickly reaching 500!

27/2/2022

What a lot of fun and laughs we had on Saturday.

There were three groups of players and each group had a different outcome on our games. Some reached the score of 500 very quickly and others were still trying to reach the magic number well into the afternoon.

There is room for more players, so please come and join in.

A fun way to spend Saturday afternoon!

29/1/2022

Once again Saturday Cards – 500 will be held the 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month.     It is a fun way to spend an afternoon – there is lots of laughter, lollies and of course a number of hands of ‘500’.    \

You don’t have to be an experienced player, some of us have learnt as we have played or have been a bit ‘rusty’ as we have not played for years.    Everyone is most welcome.

November - a bit rusty at first, by month's end, card sharps!

27/11/2021

Since the lockdown we have had two sessions of Cards on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month.

All who attended were so looking forward to being able to play 500 again.    It is such an intriguing game, and time flies so quickly when playing.

With the highs and the lows during each hand there is lots of laughter and groaning when a player is either dealt a good or bad hand.

The last session will be held on Saturday 13th December.    Come along and join us.

It has been months since we last met for Saturday Games '500'!

4/10/2021

Unfortunately, cards on Saturday has been put on hold during the lockdowns we are currently having.    It has been months since we last met!  It will be so good to get back to our enjoyable activity when things get back to some normality.   It is hoped that we can meet again soon, however we are proposing to change our meeting days to the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of each month.  I will contact those who have been missing out on cards as soon as we can meet again.

    About Saturday Cards - '500'

Many people have mentioned that they stay home on Saturdays and as they are not interested in sport are looking for something to do.  Interest in conducting an activity on Saturday afternoons in the U3A room at the Seniors Community Centre led to the playing of the card game '500' to kickstarting a fortnightly session of fun. A social activity, it commences at 1:30 pm, with afternoon provided.

An enjoyable way to spend leisure time with other members!
