Mary Clair Camilla Steele, my great aunt, was born in Tothill Creek, South Australia on 21st June 1891.
In 1926 she married William Edward Trevithick in Albury NSW. The Trevithick family tree turned out to be somewhat complicated.
William Edward Trevithick was born in Donald around 1883. He first married Mary Hollis in 1916. They had three children, Henry George Bow (1917), William Edward (1917-1948) and twin, Mary Hollis (Molly) (1917-1996). In 1922 he married Melville Louise Waldron, who was a bit of a mystery women, and appears to have no background records. Her details were taken from the marriage certificate. They did not have children. In 1926 he married our great aunt Mary Clair Camilla Steele. They had four children, Harry (1926-2013), Peter Reginald (1927-2019), Henry John (1928-2013) and Elizabeth Jean (Betty) (1930-2018).
The person named Melville Louise Waldron has no formal records. There is a note on Ancestry that suggests that she may have been born in 1899 in Ballarat. An extensive search of websites failed to reveal any information about this person, except for marriages. According the Births, Deaths and Marriages she was not born and did not die, however married three times. In 1921 she married Edwin Gerard, a year later in 1922, she married William Trevithick, and in 1930 she married Clarence John Garvey. Clarence Garvey died in Healesville in 1985 at the age 82. There is no death record for Melville Garvey, or divorce records located for any of the marriages.
There is an extensive burial record for a family of Waldron’s in the Old Ballarat Cemetery, however there are no birth or death dates on the early records, which suggests that the family may have been of aboriginal descent.
