With showers and storms threatening later in the day, eight walkers set off from John Mcaleese Park at Milawa in fine, sunny conditions. Maybe too sunny, as there was very little shade on the track! The walk is an easy one between Milawa and Oxley, passing vineyards and some lovely old homes, and of course the historic flour mill where we stopped for photos. The more energetic walkers decided to do a loop around the town, while two of us took the shorter route back.
With spots of rain beginning, we abandoned our picnic in the park for lunch under shelter at the bakery, followed by an early afternoon tea on the shady veranda at the Cheese Factory. With a total distance of 7.5km for the longer route and 5km for the shorter, it was a pleasant and relaxing end to our walking year.
Most of you will have accepted before the newsletter is out, and emails have gone around. We are meeting either at the Hotel for 12.30 lunch, or in the Seniors’ carpark at 11.45am for anyone needing a lift.
This will be my last newsletter as convenor-it has been a great four years, with some interesting, funny and relaxing walks, and a great group of walkers. We will all be looking forward to an exciting 2025, with Bev bringing some new ideas and some new challenges for us. Thank you everyone for turning up, and for not getting lost!
