Lake Benalla was the location for our Birdwatching outing on Thursday 10th October. Seven of us enjoyed a sunny morning for our walk around the southern section of the walking track. A busy time of day with walkers, dogs and cyclists. At the start of the walk, we had great views of Little Friarbirds, Sacred Kingfishers and a Black-faced Cuckoo-shrike, then surprisingly three Pelicans on the lake. Four more Pelicans appeared later. It was disappointing we only had distant views of a couple of Dollarbirds, but the Yellow-billed Spoonbills gave us great views on a nest. We also saw a nesting Grey Fantail and Magpielark. Photographs and script - Andi Stevenson Thirty-five species made for a very successful morning bird walk. We then enjoyed morning tea and Ray and Bev’s place, while watching the birds in their garden.
