At our last meeting we shared stories on the topic set for the Benalla Festival’s Writing Competition – ‘Good Vibrations’. We all felt Jenny McKenna should enter her story – about the good vibrations she experiences throughout the day meeting visitors to Benalla and others when she volunteers at the Tourist Information Centre—in Benalla Festival’s writing competition. Seamus Foley, who loves to write, particularly poetry and folk songs, attended as part of the taster program and shared with us his compelling poem ‘The Kelly’s are riding tonight’. We hope to hear more of his writing!
The topic for our meeting at 1.30 pm on Monday 27th November is ‘Right here, Right now’ ‘A time capsule of the present. Write a story about a situation currently unfolding in your life, right here, right now.’
Our November creative writing and pub sessions have been held over until December 11th because of the clash with the opening of the Benalla Senior Citizens Community Centre renovations in November. The creative writing sub group will meet with Helen Treloar Duggin at 1 pm in the U3A meeting room, joining other members to share stories and ideas over a coffee at the Northo at 2.30 pm.
