Benalla Sustainable Future Group and Benalla City Council have organised a forum on sustainable housing 'Building a Better Benalla' on Saturday 15th August from 1 to 4.30 pm at BPACC, 57 Samaria Road, Benalla. Topics include ‘Retrofitting for Energy Efficiency and Thermal Comfort’; ‘Solar Power and Battery Systems’ and ‘Water Conservation’. The forum will provide a valuable opportunity to learn more about high quality retrofit solutions for existing homes resulting in more comfort in summer and winter; low energy bills and more eco-friendly houses. Swanpool will again host the Bald Archy Exhibition this year. The exhibition will be on display at the Swanpool and District Memorial Hall from the 4th to 19th July from 10 am to 4 pm every day. Many of you visited the exhibition last year, so we are giving you advance notice, even before details have been released to the broader media! General admission is still only $5, Concession $4 and students $2. Group bookings are welcome and we will again offer groups of between 30 and 60 the option of an evening ‘Christmas in July’ dining experience. Such tragic deaths impact on family, co-workers, neighbours and the general community. Concerned Benalla residents approached Benalla Health, Benalla Rural City Council and the Rotary Club of Benalla to assist with the facilitation and organization of a free community forum – “Let’s Talk Suicide”. This forum will be held at 7.30 pm on Monday 22nd June 2015 at Rafferty’s Receptions. Dr Debra Monk, Clinical Psychologist, will be the keynote speaker.
Supper will be provided for attendees followed by a Question and Answer panel. The panel will include Michael Nuck, Acting Executive Director Mental Health and Drugs, Northeast and Border Mental Health Services (NEBMHS), Susan Benedyka, Managing Director of the Regional Development Company, and Michael Donehue, Ambassador of Love Me Love You Foundation that supports Youth Mental Health. The evening will be chaired by Matthew Sussmilch, Benalla Solicitor and former Chairman of Benalla Health. The event wil lbe supported by a range of health professionals who will be on hand for a “cuppa and a chat” over supper.
