From news of a course idea to reality - upon hearing about a popular play reading group at a regional meeting, the possibility of a play reading group was raised, researched and a program plan developed. A play reading group is now well under way, with Keith Rogers as convenor.
Bird Watching, convened by U3A 'birdie', Kathy Costello, and Collectors, convened by enthusiastic depression glass collector Judith Borthwick, both commenced in 2016. Like Playreading they have been very well received and have moved from pilot programs in the first half of the year to ongoing programs. Short courses 'Legal Matters' (John Barry), 'Opera' (Meg Dillon) and 'Google Apps' (Terry Dillon) were also added to our program offerings in 2016.
Tech Savvy groups have proliferated since late 2015 andin 2017 include Tech Savvy Beginners; Tech Savvy Plus and Tech Savvy Talks.
Because of the move in 2017 we held back on new courses in Semester 1, but by Semester 2 the new course on the Great War 1914-1918 'Over There' was being offered, a single session course on 'Advanced Care Planning' on the timetable, and 'Facebook for Mentors' in the final planning stages.
